You're already sweet enough, so cut back on the sugar!

The creation of cavities occurs in three stages. The first has to do with plaque, which is produced by oral bacteria when you eat or drink sugary or acidic foods and beverages.

The hard surface of the teeth is weakened by repeated cycles of acid assaults brought on by consuming sugary and starchy meals and beverages. Minerals from dental enamel are lost as a result of this process. In fact, the appearance of a white patch where minerals have been lost is an indication of early deterioration.

The first stage of cavities is represented by the microscopic holes that are created when plaque and acids erode the enamel. If plaque is not eliminated, the cavity will progress to the second stage, when bacteria and acid will target the tooth's dentin, which is a softer layer.

The pulp, the inner tooth material, is destroyed in the last stage of cavity formation. At this point, the tooth's supporting bone can begin to decay and the pulp becomes inflamed. You will feel sensitive, have a toothache, and have pain when you bite when the decay reaches this stage.
